This is our base layer for the warmest conditions. The mesh is open to create a space on the skin for sweat to evaporate. Just like the name says, we wanted to create the ideal simple emergency rain jacket. We made it completely waterproof and compact, and, as you’d expect from Castelli, we also gave it an amazing on-bike fit, yet it’s still roomy enough to fit over a Gabba. This jacket is an emergency piece, so we knew you wouldn’t want to break the bank with it, but the only real compromise compared to our top-of-the-line offerings is in breathability. Prologue or Pro Logo The Prologo name is Italian for "prologue," the opening salvo in a Grand Tour. But many of our customers pronounce it like "Pro Logo." And we don't mind at all. The Prologo Jersey, now in its sixth generation, does feature a big logo, but more than that it brings a lot of tech directly from our experience with pro racing. The fabric is remarkably soft yet stretchy and features bioceramic nanoparticles added to the fused polymer, which reflect far infrared light to both protect you from hot sun and help the body keep itself warm. This jacket is about the art of dressing just right for cool conditions. We're talking about those days when you need some protection from the cool air but not enough to bring out the winter jacket. Overdress and you'll be sweating and get cold because you're wet. Underdress and you never fully warm up to enjoy the ride. The concepts behind the construction are fairly simple: wind protection on front-facing surfaces, highly breathable fabrics on back-facing surfaces, and all-around water repellency in case you get a few drops of rain. PROSECCO TECH SHORT SLEEVE The first goal of this base layer is to move moisture away from your skin while adding minimal insulation for those cool days when your riding intensity is high enough and your outer layers are warm enough. The areas covered by the bibtight around the waist and up the back can get hot, so we used a lightweight PrimaLoft fabric to help even out the temperature. This base layer works best when in contact with the skin, so both fabrics are very stretchy and the cut is slim. On extremely cold days we'll use this as a first layer under a Flanders Warm second base layer, or under a thermal jersey. It's very effective at moving sweat away from the body.
